I think that's what I want. Great stability for standing, capacity for two people, flat floor, and swivel around seat. I don't like sitting with my legs out front and with my back I can't reach rod holders, see a fish finder, or reach back to my crate.

Anyone have any experiences either good or bad to share?

I had a Frontier 10 a while back and sold it after less than a year. It was an impulse buy that I regretted. First off, I will never get a yak less than 12 feet. The 10 foot Frontier was a barge and tracked horribly. It was also wide and heavy, made for a pain in the a$$ transport/load/unload. The high seat has its perks for sure but I found I was catching too much wind sitting up that high. I prefer to sit lower.

I did like the wide clear deck. I fly fish, so the clear deck was a plus in preventing fly line tangles. The stability is also nice...I stood and fished with ease. But after time I found standing in my yak to fish wasn't that important to me.

Pros: Clear deck, solid build, simple yet effective design, easy method of eventual trolling motor install
Cons: Heavy, tracked horribly, seat too high, caused some back pains (the seat leans back a tad)

Good luck in your search.

A well thought out boat. Have to motorize it. Heavy!

Yeah I am looking at the 12 footer and the wind sitting that high entered my mind. The short test paddle I took wasn't very windy. I did get down on my knees and sat on my feet to paddle for distance and speed.

I just have such a hard time reaching forward or turning behind me.

I had a 12'. The pros and cons are already as mentioned. I found it reasonably easy to paddle as long as you use an appropriate length paddle - 275cmish but its not going to be a speed demon by any means. Smaller water, ponds, rivers are it's forte IMO. The higher seat is a definite plus for some people as are the ability to seat 2 and the ease of motorizing.

Tell us what kind of waters and kind of fishing you orimarily do and maybe we can give more input or make suggestions.

Mostly creeks and rivers and smaller lakes. Don't want to get in the big water too much. Georgetown, Granger, Lady Bird.

I have never paddled one. The few who have had them love the stability and weight cap but dont enjoy paddling them...at least for any distance. I have however helped carry a few to the water. My opinion is that is one of the hardest most uncomfortable yak to carry from the rear. A cart is a definate must have. The cart offered needs modification to work properly...imo. if you take children with you and have friends to help i think its a great yak. For possibly fishing solo...not so much. Any wind is difficult to deal with. Every kayak has its pluses and minuses. None are perfict but some are close based on how you wanna play.

Definitely gonna get the wheels with it and modify them to turn upside down for when I get in skinny water on the creeks.

Imo a single pc of angle iron welded to the cart shaft to keep the cart from rotating under load. I would be happy to do so if you are ever in dfw area.

Youl need a looooong paddle. But, I like em. They paddle n track well for such a wide n short craft.
Good weight capacity. The only other negative I can think of is lack of storage below deck.
A 9 on a 10 scale IMO. Good luck

The salesman mentioned the paddle length and said most go with a 275 paddle.

I appreciate the offer Christian but I am a welder by trade too. I planned on doing something to spin it upside down and hold in place but are you suggesting something to keep it from swiveling at all?

Yes...i think so. The hole it fits in to does seem to flex a lot when carting a loaded yak. The flat back if i remember correctly should fit a pc of like 2" angle iron. Welded to cart shaft it could help devide the load over a greater surface area. Id have to freshin up my memory a bit and take a second loom but i think that was pretty much the idea i had.

The long paddle is a must for the Frontier 12, I agree, 275cm is just about perfect!

If you do not use the long paddle, as recommended, the boat can be a bit of a chore to paddle. But it is a breeze with the right paddle. I use a Transformer, and it works great in either SUP or double blade configs. The boat can be a bit awkward in white water due to the need for the long paddle and wide beam. You can use a shorter paddle for white water, but it has to be stout. (FYI, if tandem, you can use canoe paddles very effectively) I paddle the boat much longer distances than most people who kayak fish, and I don't mind at all. Now, if you paddle solo for someone else in the bow in tandem config, that can be a bit of a chore. That's because the boat rids an inch or two lower in the water, and drag increases dramatically.

I use the bench seats for surf, white water, etc. and use the Max360 seats for protected water. No wind issues while seated. Then again, I'm a fly fisherman and sight-fisher. So I stand a lot in paddle craft and grew up in canoes. So my tolerance for wind is different than most. The new M360 seat base, the RIGID base, is excellent.

I've been fishing (all kinds of tackle) and duck hunting from paddle craft for nearly 40 years. I've used almost every type of boat you can imagine and most of the popular kayaks. The Nucanoe Frontier 12 is my favorite of them all for versatility and comfort. And no matter what anyone says, comfort is KING. If a boat isn't comfortable, you won't enjoy it much. And why do you buy a recreational boat?

I currently have one, and mine is the one that Christian has helped carry several times. The one thing that I would point out about Christians post is that the yak was fully loaded...one time with a trolling motor battery (which is why the plastic was flexing).

I've had one for about a year now (10 months). I've paddled the 10 and own the 12. The 10 tracks like a drunk sailor...its terrible. The 12 tracks perfectly fine, if you have the right length paddle. I'm not one that likes to stand and fish a lot, but I'll tell you that its nice being able to stand and [censored] when needed verses heading to shore or aiming in a bottle.

You can add an extra removable seat, which I have. IMO..its great for kids. I would not put another adult the front.

The stability is ridiculously good. You can literally sit on the gunnels and it wont roll. It does catch a fair amount of wind, and can be very difficult to paddle against a strong wind (20+). I've even had it drag a small anchor.

When accessing tackle behind the seat, nothing else comes close. In the past, I would reach behind me, and fumble around blindly till I found what I needed or gave up. In the NC, I just swivel a little (1/4 turn) and find what I need.

Loading and unloading....Its a beast. The cart on the back is a near necessity. The problem with the cart, as christian mentioned, is that the single post acts as a pivot point. Not good when your loaded and top heavy..headed to the water.

Its very easy to add a trolling motor. I run mine to get to and from my fishing spots. Even use it to troll for striper.

As far as ease of paddle...on a casual paddle I can keep up with Christian in his raptor. If the wind picks up, or Christian decides he wants to pick up the pace..he's going to walk off and leave me.

If you want to try one out, I'm in north Ft. Worth. I'll meet ya anytime the work schedule allows.

If you want to get input from more guys that own them from all over the country, check out the Nucanoe forum.
