There's a small lake in Prosper you can drop a kayak into.

Just up from Little Elm is Tannery Lake in Cross Roads. Also up off of 380 is the Providence community and they have a public lake. Thing I do is google earth and find lakes. Then go and see if I can access them.

I believe Tannery Lakes is now off limits to kayaks a shame because it was a good lake. A guy on the forum a couple weeks ago said he tried to kayak it and was given the boot. Town Lake in Prosper is a great lake!

There are also a couple lakes up around Sherman that are supposed to be pretty nice, I haven't fished any of them though

Elm fork at California crossing has new kayak ramps! Lots of crappie flathead and bass in there. Awesome shad hole too.
Keep em tight!

Thank you so much for the responses! I notice these soil conservation lakes everywhere, so some are public and some are private? Just have to drive over to find out I guess. thanks again!

Tough to find small bass waters that are public. Usually a google earth flyover will help before you make the drive - if there are gates and no obvious parking areas, it is likely going to be private. Most if not all the coservation lakes are private with all access points private ownership. I would check out some of the bigger waters for coves you can work or even go fish their marinas - you can stay out of the wind or plan for it and still have access to some good fish.

Thanks! FishAll50, could you suggest any lakes with good coves to access. Not asking for your spots but any suggestion on a good target lake, tips on what to look for in a cove, etc. thanks.

Your closest lakes are Lewisville and Ray Roberts which I can't give you much info on - the better for LMB probably being RR (you might PM Shaun Russel about RR). But if you are willing to drive north a bit, the town of Sherman has a couple of small public lakes - Herman Baker, Loy Lake and Waterloo lake - all easy access and have some decent lmb in them. If you want to go a bit further, I would recommend fishing the coves and marinas at lake Texoma - Highport Marina, Grandpappy, and Eisenhower are good for lmb and often some spots/smallies - these coves/marinas will usually keep you fairly shielded from south winds. Good luck!

New to the area. Looking for some spots around Little Elm/Frisco area to drop a Kayak in. targeting bass. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks! Go to Cottonwood park in Little Elm. Launch there at the ramp and fish back in the cove toward and beyond the marina. Lots of nice bass and crappie back in there. The old twin bridges hold a lot of fish as well and they should be slightly exposed back in there. click here
