Stopped after work and picked up some stubby's dough bait. It was stored in the fridge when I got it? Should it always be stored in the fridge?

Also got me some #4 treble hooks. Do you just mash a ball of bait onto the hook? About how much do you put on the hook?

Gonna try tomorrow morning on tawakoni. Probably fairly shallow(4-8ft) under a slip bobber in the kayak. Any other tips?

Ps got the bait at lonestar pawn in Greenville right off of US30 at a reasonable price for a good size

Mash enough bait around the hook to just cover the hook. It would be best to keep a small cooler of ice with you to put the container in if it starts getting too soft. This heat takes its toll on any bait right now. If you will dip the hook with bait on it in the water and then slightly mash it again you will see the bait start to out off a little trail. This will put some fish on your stringer

About half of your thumb on no4 treble,as little wheel said keep it cool this time of year .any questions just call.

Thank y'all for the advice. I'll report tomorrow . Regardless how many fish we catch I'm 100% certain it will be my inability to find them, not the chosen bait. Lol

Monday morning will be my maiden trip with Stubbys on lake fork. hope it treats me right!!!!

I think ketchn was right, should have tried some deeper water. Did catch a few, all blues. Think we,re gona go to fork in the morning off of 2946 and give it a shot. For us it's not really the qty of fish, if we catch a few to pass the time that's great.

I remember our first fishing trip all those years ago, she wouldn't bait the hook, wouldn't take the fish off, nipped that in the bud real quick. How am I supposed to fish when I'm tending to you? Lol. It worked, hell she only takes me now so that she can tell everyone she caught more and bigger fish than I did!

Does it work casting it out or do you have to just drop off. With no weight I am not sure how far I could cast it.

Fishing from the kayak it worked well "pitching" it out. Dont think it would work well from the bank and trying to cast out 50 yards . No weight, but the treble and swivel with the cheese bait is enough weight for pitching or lettin it sink down. It stayed on the hook well and worked all the fish we caught was on stubbys and we were trying several different baits this morning.

If you keep it real cold and firm it will cast a long way.

Hit fork this morning. Caught 10 keepers and at least 40 or so dinks. It was great fun, almost too much work for fishing. Lol. In bout 10 ft of water maybe 6ft off the bottom...dropped it down till it hit bottom then raise just a little bit. Some hit like a freight train, others were just a gentle tug. Fished with stubbys and shrimp, didnt catch not one fish on the shrimp.

I have tried Stubby's along with almost everything else. I still buy loads of Stubby's bait,Not so much of other baits.

Oh yea, I've definately converted! We went over to fork this morning up in some timber(thanks stubby ;)). Only got in around 45 mins of fishing time before the rains rolled in. Started off with a couple of dinks, but then started getting into keeper size, caught 5 keeper, then the thunder and lightning so headed back in

Not being in the best of health and not having a boat limits what I can carry, I use the Little Stinkers teardrop lures and then don't need to keep it cool. Doesn't take much time to fill it.
