What's y'all's favorite method? I'll be fishing an unfamiliar lake.

Green fishing light and a white roadrunner with a green and white rage tail. That usually produces a ice chest full. if you have a big dip net you can switch to minnows once they get thick around the light. With the heat, I find night fishing is a lot more enjoyable. The fish are easier to catch and the wake baot and jet fleas are normally off the water.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

What we do is go buy a $20 waterproof light to stick in the water from walmart, gander mtn., etc... I would start underneath a bridge, put that waterproof light in the water and drop your minnow down there and the action should be on!!!

If you got a big dip net, once the light comes on, if you can attract some ghost minnows, no matter how small they might be, if you can impale them on a hook and drop them down, you should limit out. Any minnow or shad will work, but ghost minnows will get bit 2/1 over other species. Have done it many times over the years on LL, although I admit it's been awhile but the technique should produce gangbusters pretty much anywhere you try it.

Good luck

Rudy

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I use 1/16 oz jigs tied 5 in a line about 14" apart. I have sat under a bridge many a night next to someone who is using minnows and we bring in a ton more. I think they like the tiny lure better. We drop it down almost to the bottom and then reel up REEEEAL slow. No jigging necessary.
