I was just up there last Saturday. Never fished the lake from boat until last Saturday. We fished up in the slughs and tried deep water. Caught a few small sandies, one hybrid, and one small large mouth bass by the shore line. Deep water we had bites in 60 foot water at bout 40 foot deep with the lines. Our bait kept being taken. But no takers!

I know it makes them mad, but look for the guides. Don't need to pull close to them. Use your electronics and fish the same depth they are fishing. Around the islands is a good place to start, and always check the river ledges. If you mark fish, start fishing. Live shad is the best bait, but they will hit big minnows sometimes. Good luck!

A few weeks ago .. lots of the boats seemed to be out east, at least the ones that posted. For all I know way up north or out west can be on fire, just not being posted. Also some reports of good fishing off the ledges north of north island, trolling umbrella rigs. We had luck trolling the top of table top just east of Preston Point, and fishing the east shore around West Burns Run. In the morning a huge boat show was catching with live shad on the east shore straight out from little mineral .. you won't be able to miss it, dozens of boats smile

Topwater (chug bugs, pencil poppers etc) early in the morning can be good by the stumps just NE from Highport, also good reports of topwater down by the DAM .. basically any fishing looking shore line can hold stripper at 6am to 8am. Check the cuts between the islands .. be careful venturing behind the islands , Texoma is still lower than normal and the bottom comes up quick and some stumps out there. I would only go behind on the trolling motor until you get a feel for it.

I would make sure you have some alabama/umbrella rigs with 3-4" white curly tail grubs or sassy shads as a fall back, when everything else fails for me, trolling 120' to 150' at 2.5 to 3mph, behind the boat in 20-40' water will usually get a few. You don't have to get the rig to the bottom, stripper will come up and hit it. The flats in 15-20 FOW, just westside of Preston Point always have stripper for me, just not huge ones. As always, try to troll far away from any boat fishing live bait or slabbing.

-good luck
