The Ray Hubbard Bass Club had our seventh tournament of the year on Saturday August 9th on our home lake of Ray Hubbard. Typical Texas heat of over 100 degrees greeted the 25 boats that came out for a day of fishing, Gatorade, and sweating. When all was said and done, long time Ray Hubbard veterans Tommy and Tony Climer bested everyone with a strong summertime limit of 17.88 pounds. Here are full results and pictures.

Ronnie Pettis and his partner Mr. Everett, (sorry we didn't get a first name) had a couple good fish.

Gary Lee and Brian Brooks had 2 for 4.65

David Mulkey and myself worked hard for our four skinny summertime fish for 8.21.

Eric and Evan Vidal had 3 for 9.56 with one close to 5 pounds.

Tony Schnurr and Jay Messersmith continued a solid year with a 7th place finish with 5 for 11 pounds. Tony is currently third in the AOY standings. And yes, they were partially photo bombed by our esteemed web master Herman Larkin. Did I mention it was hot?? smile

RHBC newcomer Dan Margules fishing with Ray Hubbard veteran Andy Medina had 3 for 10 pounds but that included big bass of the tournament, a 6.14 beast.

David Horton and Preston Smith are having a strong year as well. They finished 6th with 5 for 11.62

Last check and fifth place went to the team of Jerry Brown and Tony Climer Jr, as all the Climers entered went home with a little cash. They had 5 for 11.71

TD's Matt Jackson and Russell Olds got fourth place with 5 for 11.77 that included a 5.54 big fish. For those that think the heat has them crazy, no, Matt always looks like that...

Third place went to Jason Hunnicutt and Travis Reaves who are having a very good year. However, they are both in witness protection and cannot have their picture taken. They had 5 for 14.10

Second place went to Justin Garrett and Gary Anderson. Justin is threatening to run away with the AOY title. They had 5 for 16.79 that included a 5.99 big bass.

Great fisherman do whatever they have to do to win. When Tommy told me after the tournament that he caught one of their biggest fish on a wacky worm, I thought the heat had gotten to him but I think he was surprised by it too. These guys are a threat to win any tournament they enter. Here's the winning stringer of 17.88 that included a big fish of 5.76. Congratulations guys.

Our next tournament will be Saturday September 13th on Cypress Springs. We will be fishing 6:00AM to 3:00PM and launching from Overlook Park. Hope to see you there!

I love the statement about Jason Hunnicutt & Travis Reaves being in the witness protection plan.

Great job on the post Tom. Thanks to the lady that took pics. I think she was related to the Crawford clan buy I'm gonna assume she's not a James Crawford the I, II, III or a JR either!
