I'm finally starting get get enough equipment to have multiple rods. Up until recently I have been saving money for other stuff and haven't had a chance to accumulate fishing equipment (kids are very expensive, they eat ALOT). So I picked up a new rod with a cabelas gift card the other day and plan on putting a mettle on it for top water baits. The rod I have been using is good for worms, spinners, and CB's but has Flouro on it and makes fishing top water difficult. I was looking at putting on Big Game, but heard co-polymer works just as well. Any suggestions?

Big Game in the 1/4 lb spools typically runs $7 each. Hard to beat!

That's what I'm thinking. That stuff has been around for a while too and I've never really heard anything bad about it.

I've used Big Game for a long time primarily because of cost. I re-spool often. I recently started using a line conditioner and it works better than I originally thought. Especially with larger diameter lines.

I use 15 lb line for most of my topwaters. 20 lb on heavier lures like Spooks.

How often do you re-spool? It's not a cost issue, that stuff is cheap. Just wondering how long it lasts.

I re-spool maybe once a month on each baitcast reel. I have backing on all of the reels and then tie the line on them. I probably put 50-60 yards on every time.

A majority of my rods serve multi purposes. I'll throw spinnerbaits, worms/craws, etc. on one rod. Topwaters, cranks on another so I re-tie lures quite a bit.

That's about how my rod usage will be. I only have two right now, one reel. The new one will be for top waters and stuff. Thanks for the tips!

For slabbing and dead sticking I've been thinking about braid with a fluoro leader. Several people I know use the Big Game. It seems a little stiff compared to Trilene XL that I use for top water.

For topwaters does big game float as good as trilene xl
or other mono lines.
Or does big game abrasion resistance cause it to be
a little heavier in water a little like fluorocarbon?

get Sufix Siege and you will never look back. It has no memory and is super tuff.
