Some of y'all may know me from a few posts here and from many in the striper section. I haven't had the chance to striper fish at all this year but I did get an offshore trip in yesterday, that was one for the books.
Had the honor and privilege to fish with my close friends, aboard Hideout, yesterday. A 60' Rybovitch.
Worked David's spot and Colt 45 all day with not much to show but some chicken dolphin. Till around 2:00 pm.
We were inshore, a few miles, of Colt 45. Left long rigger snapped and we got a blue on!!!
I grabbed the rod, settled in the seat and got to work. I can tell you that this was my very first Texas Blue after fishing 20 years.
She wasn't but around 150-200 lbs but she had plenty fight in her. Captain bobby Johnson and first mate Corbin were spot on and Nathan, John and Ted were working their butts off.
Got her to leader in 20 min or so. Took some pics and turned her loose. She was still lit up and swam off strong. (I see ya later, chica)
I've fished 20 years in Texas, I've had to honor and privilege to fish in panama, Mexico, Florida, and other places, 4 years ago, to the day, I caught the very first Black Marlin, Hideout ever had, of course trophy blues busting 500 pounds and more, I've caught everything that the Gulf of Mexico has in it except a Texas Blue. Yesterday that changed!!!
Thank you Nathan Watson, John Watson, Captain Bobby Johnson, Corbin and Ted for the friendship and opertunity.
