I agree with Stucky. It didn't used to be this secretive. I enjoyed it alot and learned alot by reading the posts. Now it seems, that you need to be on a special call list to get any useful information. I am not saying that I want anyones coordinates, but it is nice to hear how all the lakes are doing and the different ways people are using to catch fish. I prefer to crappie fish, but do fish for other species. The other sections on this forum aren't afraid to post lake names, even the bass section. One of the reasons I always enjoyed crappie fishing was that crappie fishermen were always willing to help each other out. I don't know how many times if i was fishing a marina and catching fish on a particular color and someone else wasn't I would share and had others share with me. That goes for share catches if I only had a couple and someone wanted them and have had them given to me too. I can remember one year at bardwell I think all of us took turns on who took the fish home that day. Yes, when people see that fish are biting at one particular lake it gets more traffic, but like Stucky says they still have to find them. I'll add they still have to catch them. If they do, then more power to them. I don't own the fish, lake, or anything in it, and yes I have put brush piles out. I enjoy watching people catch fish, especially the ones that normally don't. They get excited and that rubs off. I don't normally fish weekends because I don't like the crowds. Most lakes around the metroplex will be crowded on weekends whether anyone posts good reports on here or not. This sport is really growing, and it saddens me to see the helpfulness and inclusion of everyone go away. These guys are worried about the pressure because they fish small lakes. It's a lot easier to find fish when the deepest part of the lake is 20 feet. Heck, I can go hit up Proctor, Mineral Wells, Aquilla, Mexia, Navarro Mills, Weatherford, etc... and catch a bunch too. If rather hit up east Texas lakes and find monsters Actually, guys, I grew up in East Texas fishing large lakes and it is not really any different than fishing the smaller lakes. Catching crappie is usually pretty easy even on bigger lakes, you just have to have a bigger boat to handle the waves/wind/travel distance, or be willing to travel to several ramps with a smaller boat. Just saying, don't break your arm patting yourself on the back, just because you fish larger lakes.

Interesting to see this thread bumped.
Nothing has changed since August. Those who are willing to share and teach will continue to do share and teach, those who are afraid somebody else might catch one of their crappie will hide the lake and details.
At the end of the day those who share and teach will have the lion's share of the respect from other forum members, both posters and lurkers.
I have been helped by some on this forum and appreciate their help in getting me started on a new lake. I read all their threads and posts, as they have my respect.

I am a newbie crappie fisherman, but not a newbie fisherman. I posted a question yesterday about crappie fishing and have received a lot of helpful info. Thanks TFF!

That's what's its all about, and plz continue to seek and share with folks who will do the same with you. I haven't been on this board long a little over a year and I have met some really nice folks who would help me out when I couldn't figure the crappie out. I don't worry about all the different opinions I simply feed what feeds me and keep it moving. I a fisherman wants to be tight lipped(4 whatever reason) then so be it, I can only be me and help out like was helped out. SIMPLE I am a newbie crappie fisherman, but not a newbie fisherman. I posted a question yesterday about crappie fishing and have received a lot of helpful info. Thanks TFF!
