Ever 4 or 5 cast I squeeze it. 65lbs braid helps it walk better too.

I'll say it again, put a small (1/8 or 1/16 oz)split shot in the hollow body and shake it to the rear of the frog. Then barely twitch it

My walking ability got much better when I realized that the pop toward you is a little slower than the snap back toward the frog (gives more slack line=better walking) It was my incorrect instinct to snap the back the rod toward me quickly and not worry about bringing the rod tip back pointing at the frog. Once I focused on quickly returning the rod tip back to the frog/topwater quickly, the walking improved significantly. Short pop toward you, quickly return rod tip toward frog, short pop toward, quick return...repeat

A good rod makes a big difference... "Walking a frog" is just like walking a spook and a other walking baits which apparently you're familiar with. Get that movement down and you'll be able to get the same action with the frog with a little mixed knowledge, rhythm and customizations under your belt.

I throw an XH 7'3 six power with an extra fast tip. Dobyns (736), Powell and other rod companies make them.. Make sure the guides are rated for the line you're throwing or you will wear your rod out. Look for a good cut off point, but that extra fast tip will help you walk it tremendously.. Slack line as mentioned above is a key to getting started. Spro's walk the best for me trimming the skirts, but to each his own...

Try a popping frog. They have a little longer body and seem to walk easier IMO.

If your frog is sinking that fast it is a low quality frog most likely. I've never had a spro leak until it has caught a bunch of fish

Just paint a small coating of Mend It or Spike It plastic glue around the hook hole if you have a frog that leaks or starts leaking. It makes a flange and will let air escape and keep water out. Does not affect hookups though at least from my experience. I rarely trim the legs one shorter than the other or bend out hooks.

Clear silicone calk works well too.

It is heavier so if you use too much it will affect the way the frog sits in the water and the action of it.
