Hi guys,
I'm new to the forum, I have been think of taking on the brazos up by pk. I've ran a few lumber loads out there and I've seen a bridge on 16 at the bottom of the lake where it flows pretty good. I've searched the forums and all the post look pretty old or lower on the brazos. Any body been there yet, any tips or equipment?

My main rod reel is a dawia 100df reel 80# braid on a one piece hvy-med rod using 5/0-9/0 team catfish super j hooks, 50# mono leader in santee (three-way and barrel swivel) and double/single hook slip sinker rigs all 2 1/2 to 4 oz wt.
I also have bait fish reel with 10# braid and small panfish hooks that i use on the small creeks and rivers around dfw. I'm learning the casting net right now.

Thanks guys

Welcome!
Most of the Brazos reports i see are from the Kayak section, don't see them target catfish much though.
I have did that part of the Brazos many times though it was before I was targeting cats myself.

As far as bait goes definitely the cast net is recommended, but I have used a seine net many times before and that works too.
I just always did better with bait that they are used too.
Good luck and please let us know about the trip!

Thanks steveiam,
A kayak or canoe is next on my list as with all the development in the dfw area it is becoming more of a need then a want. As far as bait is concerned ill be trying cut bait and live bait for flats, my layout is cut shad various panfish, shrimp, baby squid arms and night crawlers. Live bait is panfish or shad. I've found a creek in richardson while house hunting and managed to catch a channel cat (thrown back) and what I think is a perch.

I would agree on what you caught in the creek--
Some may get technical about what a perch is but around here we usually just call most any sunfish type of fish a perch--
The bottom line is you went fishing and had something pull your line--Good stuff there.
That perch will make very good flathead bait and there are tons of them easy to catch while on the river.
Love me some creek fishing but not able to for a while, enjoy!

Yea it was caught on a slip sinker rig with eagle claw panfish hook and bits of night crawler. That cat slammed that tiny hook though surprised me for sure. I would of caught more but I worry about the population numbers so I catch what I need. I'm going to lavon wash out or the trinity river(sandy lake rd area) sometime this week and I'll use that sunfish and the rest of the night crawlers. I've seen to many people illegally fishing and keeping whatever bites no matter what which I cant stand.
