This next monday, a group of friends and I are going down to Galveston to stay at one of my friends beach condo, and me and one of the group plan on doing some fishing while we are there! I plan on just using some cut mullet or something that I catch in a castnet, and fishing off the beach for whatever may bite, and maybe going to fish some piers around the bays in Galveston. Can anyone give me some info on where my buddy and I should fish, catch bait, and what size weights hooks, or even lures we should try throwing? We are going to be there from the 28th through the 4th, so we will have plenty of time to do some fishing. I already have quite a few 1-2 oz bank sinkers and circle hooks of various sizes from 2/0-8/0 so I think that I have terminal tacle covered, but I want to make sure that they are what will work!
I believe we are both going to have a 7' Medium action ugly stik with a cheaper spinning reel on it.
Thanks for any input guys and gals!

Way to much to say in a post but Ill try.
Shrimp cast out for sand trout and spec's.I use 12 lb line with a 20lb leader. Cats net mullet is what I do you might catch some Bull reds or shark 20lb line with steel leaders. The bait shops will have the leaders.

Yeah, sorry for so much info being asked in a single post. What size hooks and weights would you recommend?

If the surf is flat, that's your best choice. Fish the guts between the bars, silver spoon, 1/4 oz head with some manner of paddle tail, pumpkin or white.
Long pants, lace up shoes, slide your feet and a long stringer you'll be fine.

I'm headed to Houston next weekend for a baseball showcase for my son. I am taking the yaks and was going to sneak over to Galveston Bay somewhere to wet a hook. Is there any place to fish Galveston that DOESN"T have a fish consumption ban???? Looking for a spot to keep a few to bring home.
