That boat ramp has been dry and closed for several months now. Nice ramp...when it has water.

I wonder if cleaning out the end of this ramp would make it usable??? I've got a big tractor with a front end loader. and I'm happy to do the work. Who would I ask???

The entire ramp is out of the water.....even if you cleaned it up, it needs to be extended to reach the water.

What/Which ramps in Florida charge $20? All the private ones around Kissimmee charge $3-5.
If the $20 fee brings vehicle Peace of Mind, I'd have no quams paying it.

The increase is 167% of the normal total fee at any other lake. I guess if you're already paying $15, the extra $5 is fine. If you're used to $3 elsewhere, $20 is even more of a joke than $15. It's highway robbery. There's absolutely no reason to charge that much except because they can. I guess ski boats with a dozen people or guys with $50k+ bass boats will pay. Those of us with a $5k bass boat can't afford those ridiculous prices.

Honestly, it's a lot like the price of a power pole. Nothing about it should cost $1000+, but they charge that much because they can and it prices us weekend fishermen out of the game. It's one thing to be priced out of a shallow water anchor, but being prices out of a boat ramp is pretty appalling and they should be called out for it.

Pay to play. Basic economic price point. The price will go up until the demand goes down. Ask Jerrah about this theory.

After school starts they will be begging for customers as business declines and then the price will come down.

Don't think about the total cost of each fishing trip to the lake these days if you have a nice boat, truck , tackle electronics, etc then spring for gas, ramp fee, drinks, etc.

You will figure out where all your money goes.

I want to say the ramp at Big O in Clewiston was free.

It's been $10-15 for a long time, so it's not a 167% increase. I agree it's too high, but they own it and have the right to charge whatever they want.

The $20 is ridiculous. The second time I launched at HB (they were the first to go to $20). I told the guys at the counter how ridiculous it was, they agreed. They even went as far to say, they were embarrassed to work there, charging that much. It's almost a monopoly... They know there is only two good ramps that are somewhat secure on the lake, so they charge what they want. Just because Chandlers is more secure, doesn't mean it's a cure-all. I have been launching there since I was a kid and I have had many friends trucks broken into there over the years. I think $12 is more than fair for a launch fee. But, it's their place and they are going to charge whatever people will pay. There's not much we can do about it. Ray Hubbard is full of expensive boats and $20 is a drop in the bucket to most out there. But, it gets expensive when you want to hit the water 3-4 times a week.

Chandler's is the only ramp I will use when I go there. I think 20 bucks is way to high if you are a weekender, but if you fish it more then once a month like myself, then get the 300 bucks annual pass and go as many times as you want.

"167% of the normal total fee at any other lake" - $5 increase divided by $3 normal total ramp fee at any other lake = 167%

I'm just making the point that their fee was already ridiculous. And their INCREASE is more than the total fee at most other places.

I agree, charge what you want. It's just a little ridiculous to get priced out of a boat ramp.

I went to Conroe a couple of weeks back and the ramp I use had gone from $10 to $15 per launch. Not happy and probably will not go back.

As other said, as long as the Moombas and other big boats are there, they will get the money.

Now if you want me to pay more, than my biggest beefs are fix the dang potholes at the ramp, clean the trash in the launch area once in a while, and repair the slips so they do not beat my boat up when I tie up to load.

Seems to be a pattern.

That's why I drive an hour East to the lake not just a few minutes to Hubbard. I like the lake just not he rocky, dockless, overcrowded ramps and high private launch fees. What a shame....

But you always catch more fish at Hubbard and only have a short drive home.
