Going Wednesday to Fork. Going to bass fish but like to get my son and his friend into some sand bass. Are they schooling on top and what area of the lake would be the best place to launch to find them?

Terry, I've seen schools popping up off main lake points and around the small island between oak ridge marina and the sra headquarters. Also have hear of schooling around the dam. It has been mid morning when I've seen them. Launch at Oakridge, minnow bucket or the public ramp on 154. Good luck.

There are several of them in there. But it seems they move around a lot chasing shad. They are not as big as the ones on tawakoni and schools are not as big but they are a lot of places. Use your electronics and stay on top of them. You will see them on the sides of humps and ledges, and can tell they are Sandys when they leave they edge of the hump and keep suspending out in open water at the same depth. Also look for dense schools suspended 15-25ft down, that will tell you they are not largemouth. Would think they would bite slabs and sassy shads fished into them. They do school early and late. So have a top water ready. Cover water and they will not be hard to find. Have see and caught them from well north of 2946 down to the dam and back up to 155 north bridge. One area is as good as the others. Hope this helps.

How did your trip turn out? I have some folks coming up in a week and they want to hit the water and getting them on some sand bass would be fun.

Went yesterday and boated over 100 after a three person limit we caught and released. They moved all day to various points and humps. We slabbed and did well but try tying a small chartreuse jighead above your slab.
