Lots ? of money....hmm are you saying that even with majority of one's own labor, its more costly than buying a similar boat, in good condition ?

Some stuff I did myself and other stuff had to be done by professionals due to the type of labor like new floor, foam, stringers, gas tank and transom

I bought a 2002 Kenner vision (no wood)that lived in Austin it was hardly used. It has been extremely reliable. On the other hand Before the kenner I bought a Cajun center console 1996 found rot in it shortly after buying it and the Johnson had a know VRO problem that burned my motor up . Moral of this story is research ,research , research. BE VERY PICKY. There are lots of great older boats but they are snatched up quick . Be ready to strike when you find a great one. Beware of older boats with wood in them.IMHO

Some stuff I did myself and other stuff had to be done by professionals due to the type of labor like new floor, foam, stringers, gas tank and transom yep, I did about 95% of the work on my 82 champion and i still have about 16,000.00 in it (this is counting a repower with a 4,000.00 96 175 fast strike). parts are not cheap if you do it right.

I bought the boat in my sig and it was 11 years old. It has been a BEAST and never let me down.
