The engine is RUNNING again!!! We cleaned all the fuel lines this morning and she cranked right up!! Was a good feeling for sure, dad and I were smiling like a kid on Christmas morning. Going to put all the plastics back on her tonight and take some more pictures!! We are almost there to put her on the water!

thanks fouz. thanks for the compliment and the good wishes.
well moment of truth. we flushed all the fuel lines and recirc lines, checked the flow to all the carbs, took the primer solenoid apart and cleaned it, checked the grounds, checked the fuel flow from the tank to motor, put the key in, hit the primer, turned on the fuel pump, and and and and...eureka!!! she popped on the first turn of the flywheel and started after a few more hits. purring like a kitten.
does it count as a cold start if it's 90 degrees outside?
so that's another big step forward in getting back on the water. gonna try to get everything buttoned up today on the motor...depends on the heat.
i need to go to the pond behind our place and see if i remember how to cast. could be ugly. i bet the home owners assoc would freak if we dropped her in the pond.

man it was awful out there today working on the boat but we kept at it. got the cowlings back on, mounted the new winch, cleaned up the wiring on the motor, etc, etc. need to put the lights back on the trailer and she'll be ready for the road. already have a few more things lined up to do in the fall.

i wasn't going to sand and compound the cowlings but this morning i said what the heck. if i screw em up it's just more sanding, primer, paint and clear coat. anyway i'm glad i did. what a difference. now it has that mirror finish. if your going to try a project like this and need encouragement...just give us a call. we've probably either done it right or messed it up and had to fix it.

Little update on her. Have her at Lake Fork Fiberglass getting a few cracks fixed on her and a few holes filled. Also picked up our prop from Steve at http://www.stevescustomprops.com/ today and decided to get a new jack plate from Steve as well!! We went with the Rapid Jack Magnum 8" set back. Few more weeks and she is almost ready to go fishing!!

Wow! That is an amazing transformation. Congratulations! Steve worked my prop and I'll be taking my G to LFF in the winter to have a few miscellaneous holes and cracks filled in.

ok i have a confession to make on behalf of john and myself. we are addicts. yep, sad but true. we cant stop ourselves from tinkering with the boat. is there a bassboaters anonymous? we may need some counseling.
what he didn't tell you was we stopped by rockwall marine...big mistake...and saw some stuff on the new cats that we just couldn't resist. sooooo. our p2 will be sporting the new black mounting support for the upper jackplate bolts in the splashwell, the new pop top gas caps will be replacing the screw in version that we have now, and a new trim piece on the spashwell.
hey it's no problem. we can stop anytime we want. no really we can.
left to do will be rod holders in the rod locker, rod holders for the back seater ( hey thats me) finish sanding the bottom half of the motor and painting, new batteries, addition of a standard cranking battery. probably a new side mount jack and new steps on the trailer to make it easier to get in and out of boat when we launch. also putting diamond plate in the step areas of the trailer.
one biggy may the removal of the starboard side fuel tank. it would give us more room for the batteries and charger and better access to the all the wiring coming from the front. the way we fish anymore doesn't require a 52 gallon capability. one 26 gallon tank will be plenty and then some. if we take it out we'll keep it just in case anything changes. one nice thing about a cat is being able to remove the fuel tanks without tearing the boat apart. actually its really easy.
oh well, now that ive come clean i hope we can avoid an intervention.
oh i almost forgot, im working on redesigning the dash and getting all new faria gauges. oh no, its starting again.
honestly though, doing all this work for the most part ourselves and being fortunate enough for it to be coming out looking like it does is an unbelievably satisfying and rewarding experience. id recommend it to anyone.

What a great job. I had two Pantera 11's in the past. Still wish I would have hung on to the first one I ever had. They have always been great boats.
