Launched around 5:30 to clear skies and a dead calm lake. Started out near my place in Little Mustang as I used our ramp in there. It started to get grey looking but nothing bad at all. Fished me way to about midway back in Williams. had some frog fish and was enjoying the evening then all hell broke loose. I was already strapping everything down because of teh lightning. Did not even get to the boat lane before the 60mph wind started and it was absolutely brutal. It was raining sideways and you could not see. Actually took 2 waves over the bow just idling even though I was in a 20' boat. Had never had that happen in all the years of running a boat. I mean these were huge swells. I made it almost to the junction in the boat lanes but no way I was gonna chance the rest of run back to my ramp. I turned around and beached at the Cove ramp and jogged next door to get my truck and trailer. Only casualty was a cell phone so all in all I can't complain.
Can't say I have ever had the sheer force of waves/wind like that blow them over the bow when I was just idling. Been on big water before but this was crazy. We lost power at Fork as well. Crazy night.

I was pretending to be a BassCat owner and tried calling customer service just to talk since I was lonely and the rain killed my phone............ rolfmao

In all seriousness the water was so bad I never tried running it on pad. It was crazy how rough that creek got. Esaily the worst water I have tried to run out here.

Did you tell Mr and Mrs Pierce hello from me??? lol

Me and Grills got caught in a wind storm on the other end of the lake a few years back and it must have been blowing 60-75 mph. Ronnie Kelly has a video of it, it was nuts.

We all were within a mile or 2 of a good place to shelter, but we saw J. Rackley coming from the main lake towards 154 and you would see that Skeeter for a second or two then he would disappear down into some swells, good times!

Phone is in rice. Screen stopped working. Will work to make calls in my truck via the touchscreen on my dash but will not work otherwise as far as display is concerned. Gonna order a new one in the AM.Sad part is it is in a waterproof case so not sure if it crapped out from water or just died. Water dots are not activated.

Rice trick will work....give it a day. I didn't have my life proof case on my iPhone back in May when I fell in and phone came back to life after letting it sit submerged in rice for about 12 hours. Only problem I had was that once or twice a day the phone would overheat and shut down for emergency use only. Glad you made it back okay.

It was serious dark clouds in Sulphur Springs for an hour or so and then all Hell broke loose. Wind went from dead calm to 50+ in a snap. Glad you are OK.

Those storms that move NE to SW through that area are prone to produce naders. Glad you're ok, Mark.

I took three waves over the bow while idling in a "protected" cove on Rayburn a few years ago. You couldn't have paid me enough to get me to try running the main lake that day.

Glad you made it off the lake safely. Maybe I'm just getting old and soft, but big water in high wind is one of the scariest combinations I can think of.
