Ok, so I have a Strike King 6XD and the lip is starting to split. What should I fill the crack with that wouldn't affect the action of the lure?

What I do, and it does affect the action a little bit, is get some 24 hour epoxy and mix some up and fill it with that. Then you have to smooth it out with sandpaper, but it works great. Some have used the 5 minute epoxy, but I prefer the 24 hour kind, it hardens up more generally and not as quickly. Works great for me, but as mentioned, if you do not get the fine sandpaper out after it, it will affect the action a little bit. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have 24 hour epoxy. Should I treat it like a windshield and drill a hole at the end to stop the split?

Nope, I just treat it and let it dry for over 24 hours, longer if it is humid. Then the fine grit sandpaper and it should be good to go. I would not drill into the bill, as that will only make it weaker. Hope this helps.

What if it is one of THE CBs that David Fritts won't take $1000 for? A PROVEN CB that just flat out catches all the other CBs? Could be the case, since he is looking at fixing it. I have 36 of the CBs that just flat out catch more fish. I throw them on 20# test and have gone diving after a few that I could not get loose, even with a lure retriever. Just some observations and speculation, on my end of it, but I know I do everything I can to keep them in GREAT working order.

That's why I was asking. I have plenty of epoxy already in my garage and it is a CB that I'm rather partial to. If I can fix it with some epoxy and sand paper that is cheaper than spending another $5.96 on another one. Could I afford to buy another one? Sure, but why waste the money if I can fix it in about 5 minutes. Thanks for the advice Thad.

I guess you stand around and wait 24 hrs for epoxy to dry instead of doing other stuff, smart guy.
