Benp, bb has good fish, but it is tough!!!!! I can catch em on lewisv, rc, twok, and whitney, but bb has disappointed us many many times. Mark fish all day, use same bait and technique as other lakes and nothing!!!
Just this year are we starting to get em. Its lots of learning and really a different lake.
One other bit of advice watch the wind, that lake is scary with 15 mph south wind.

If you now Lewisville then you know we get wind alot as well! I am not against giving BB a shot though, pretty close to my mom's house and she wants to start fishing again. I guess Dutch Branch has the closest ramp or maybe holiday has a little more water either way cant be much worse than lewisville has been

I only fish on days that end in Y!

Our desire or therefore lack of to share or make posts stems from the fact that Benbrook is 10% the size (3,600 acres when it is full) of Lewisville 29k , Hubbard 21k , Tawakoni 37k, and C.C. 32k So when someone makes a post about Benbrook you will have an onslaught of boats following and believe me it will beat down the fishing. The day after this post one of my buddies counted no less than 10 center console boats on Benbrook that he had never seen there before. This guy fishes Benbrook more than I do and I fish it on average 3 times a week. And well we know the regulars, we may not know them by name but we know the boats.

Even among us when the fishing is good we rarely go out at the same time. We will usually call and coordinate times. Some of us will fish the am and others the pm but rarely do more than two of us go. It is just the way Benbrook is... It is a hard lake to fish and all of us have contributed to what we all know.

This season Jedi-Ninja figured something out and Anton II and I also employed something Bridgeport Guide taught us due to the excessive shad die-off this past winter. We may seem to be a "tight-lipped" group but we are not, we are always looking to meet new folks and are willing to help others.

But in the long run there is only so much pressure Benbrook can take and if you think hybrids on big lakes are spooky of big engines then on Benbrook they are 10 x worse. So if we seem crass and selfish you may be mistaken. Send us a pm, make an effort to meet us and you may find out otherwise. It is a public lake, it is not ours but in the long run it is a resource we like to protect.

I hope this clears things up a bit.

I can not think of a better way to explain your situation there than the way you have done so Fishing Professor!

I grew up in South west fort my entire childhood. Learned to play golf at Pecan Valley, soccer at the fields by the Dam, and camped at the lake all the time. I now live in Addison and fish mostly east of Fort Worth, a few months ago my mom asked if I remembered going to Dutch Branch and catching fish in the canoe when I was 5 and I said not really, so we went out in some Kayaks this past June and fished the trees near the Holiday boat ramp for Crappie, I saw scattered fish jumping and maybe 5 boats on the whole lake, and thought to myself, this is a nice small lake, why do I not fish here?...

Anyway, I read this thread a few days ago and it made me think of that day on the Kayaks... I appreciate you sharing this info and think that is nice to hear fishermen sharing a lake and working together, it would be nice to carry that over to the bigger lakes!

Welcome to my world I have boats on me most days and it get aggravating at times.
We still seem to get them most days. Im tired of all the crying about more than
3 boats, and I fish at Benbrook on average of 6 days a week and I have never seen
10 center consoles ever most days it 2 or 3 boats stop crying and fish!!!!

If it's "aggravating" don't post a dozen pics of fish when one or two would do. I learned that on my lake years ago.

Just plain tough. I have been fishing it since we moved here in 2000, when I could get on it. I have trolled and caught a limit in 2 hours and then fished every way possible the next day and not catch a fish. I am by no means a pro fisherman, but caught lots of fish on Ben Brook. I know several people will tell you the same thing. Fish are there, just getting them to bite. By the way, I have used shad also. bang

It is hard to tell, but some of the little fish look like Hybrids and are short. Just to let you know, it cost $268 if you get caught with a short fish. hung

I have fished 30 years for stripers and hybrids and I assure you none of the fish in my pic's are short hybrids we have been catching 12 to 13 inch hybrids every trip.
