Instead of asking this in front of a few guys at the lake I figure I'll ask in front of thousands to maximize embarrassment lol. I have only fished three tournaments but am curious if you can weigh in small mouth bass. Does it change for little club tourny's or is it just generally not allowed because it's a different species? I just don't want to release a smally that could have counted in my favor. Thanks

Depends on specific tournament rules, but generally black basses count (lmb, smb, & Kentucky)

basically you looking for the heaviest 5 or 3 bass total weight, as said Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Bass...consider the state law of minim length or the tournament limit...a sack of big smallmouths will do just fine !!! good luck !!!

^^^ What he said. Other than that I've never heard of a tournament that doesn't allow smallmouth to be weighed. I did recently see someone post on facebook in Tennessee that out of a three fish limit, only two could be smallmouth

Id always look on tpwd website for length requirements for the given lake. Then ask the td because while some tournaments let you bring in any size spotted BASS I've seen others have a 14 inch minimum like LMB.

My man, if you are fishing Belton and you don't weigh at least one in, you won't win. If they meet the minimum legnth, then weigh em.
