Just depends on how and where you fish on the lake. Shad are coming back and are all over the lake. Crappie are fattening up. Paul O'bier and I fished a couple of hours before dark yesterday evening and kept 14 fatties for the fryer. Threw back as many dinks. But fish are healthy. Last month 9.6# won it with big fish of 1.6#. You just need 7 good ones to weigh in. Should be fun for just $30.

Not gonna make this one! But would be willing to bet it takes between 9-10 pounds again.

Make sure you get minnows somewhere else than RR Sportman's Club unless you want to pay $18 a pound for roughly 3 dozen minnows.

There are good fish on Ray Roberts without having to use minnows. We caught all of ours on jigs only last month. Just gotta find them.

I started this post to get some interest in a fun cheap crappie tournament on Roberts Saturday. Didn't know it would draw the negative post. Especially about the store and the minnows. Sorry Jerrod. Thought post like that would be deleted. I've been registered on this forum since 2001 and have only made 200 post and this is one reason why. Ever notice why so many guides will not post on this forum anymore. I think this is my last one too. As for right now, I'm going crappie fishing. Happy 2nd Birthday to your son Cody! Congrats on the new Grandson Paul!

Whale it's not a problem. I do appreciate you posting this for us our computer system decided to give out on us for a bit. People are going to say negative things they always will but being unfair on the minnows is far from the truth. We have always given well over what someone wants. Oh well. Have a good day Everett.

I plan to fish the tournament tomorrow, but I do have a suggestion on the time. With the heat I recommend starting at 6:30 to 1:00 or 2:00. See ya in the morning.
