What kind of knot are you using to tie your braided line to 10lb floro? On heavier line I use uni to uni.

Thanks,

Tied with the braid on the outside is going to make a smaller leader knot.

Second one also very small leader knot. If you're not using a 30"+ leader length they are a bit overkill probably... not sure

I'm using a blood knot and have had no breakage in several years. 9 loops on the braided side and 8 loops on the fluorocarbon side.

Double uni where you wrap the tag end around both lines. Have also used a single uni to single uni which never was a problem. In a recent Bassmaster magazine, pro Aaron Martins said he uses a single uni to uni and he believes it is as good as a double uni and easier to tie.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

The Albright Special Knot is one of the most reliable knots for joining lines of greatly unequal diameters or different materials. It is small and slips through rod guides nicely.

The Alberto Knot is also good for this purpose, but I find it slightly more difficult.

Improved Albright wrapping the braid around the flouro. Extremely strong and wrapping the braid around the leader makes for a smaller, more abrasion resistant knot.

I'll agree with the improved albright or the "alberto". flies through the guides with 10lb braid to 8lb flouro.

Nice to see the video from the originator. thumb

In Mr. Alberto's video you can see there is a fuzzy braid tag end that might interfere with the guides--braid does this when you cut it, even with a very sharp knife. I'll carefully use a lighter, holding the flame well below that fuzzy tag and slowly bring the lighter toward that tag end. The fuzzy tag will melt in about 0.1 seconds when the flame is about 1.5 inches from the tag (turn the flame off moving it down and away as soon as you start seeing the fuzzy tag starting to melt). Makes for a very smooth knot.
