. . .is Gene himself. I really enjoyed fishing with Gene and Frank on Towakoni. What a day, lots of fishing and a whole lotta of catching. We started out right at sun up out of Holiday., the lake was socked in with fog and it was very cool. We got off to a slow start, but by mid morning, it was game on for Towak Sandbass. Fishing points and downsizing to tail spins.

As everyone knows that Gene keeps his boat very clean, but by the time we were through there was fish poop and fish blood everywhere. Gene said that if the boat is as clean at the end as it was the beginning than the fishing trip was probably not very successful. His Nautica is a great fishing platform. Thanks Gene, it was a great day of fishing. The facilities at Holiday are greatly improved. Frank cleaned fish for an hour at the Holiday cleaning station. Thanks Frank!

Gene is a class act all the way! I'm glad you found them early and stayed on them through the day as it sounds like everyone had a great time catching. Thanks for posting Terry! thumb

Fishing Tawakoni was about as good as it can get. We were on Hybrids at first light and big Sandies the rest if the day. A big thanks to Mix Williams for the heads up on what to look for. Frank and Terry were whacking fish for most if the day. We found fish in several locations but could not get them to bite. Finally got into them in 10 ft if water on slabs and spinners. We threw back twice as many as we kept. Also thank you Frank for cleaning ALL of the fish. I was getting them out if the livewell and one of them cut my hand down to the bone and I was bleeding everywhere. Also talked to Joe Read at the ramp and he said fishing there now is as good as it gets.

I got so busy with work yesterday I just now got a chance to read The Forum! It was a stellar day. Seeing that fog and feeling that cool breeze at 5AM just kind of set the tone for the day. Gene's boat is a "Cadillac." I also asked several times can I wipe things up and I concur with what Terry said. Gene said if it's clean it means we didn't catch fish! Gene sent us some pictures later on Sunday night. He already had her cleaned up and back to normal. When my Dad was alive we always fished. I told Terry recently that every time I go to a marina it reminds me of my youth and fishing with my Dad. The sights, the sounds, the smell of fish. There is just something indescribable about hitting a lake and watching the sun rise like we did Sunday. More importantly was the stories you share when fishing. Gene told some that had me rolling! We also met Tommy the new owner of Holiday and had a nice chat with him. Also want to give a shout out to "Mr. Whiskers" Thom Whitlock! The blades on Gene's knife were dull and Thom left a knife for me to use and said just leave it at the store... That is good people right there. Hope Thom reads this. My wife and I taste tested the fish Sunday night and they passed the test! Finally this came to mind. My Dad used to say this over the years: "God does not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing." If that is the case we have a lot of time left to fish!

I also want to throw in a Thankyou to Gene for Sundays catch. We were on the water as well and also tried numerous spots only to find lots fish that wouldn't hit, along with a lot of other boats with bored anglers floating around. Gene, thanks a lot for the heads up, enjoyed fishing near you guys. We had to get off the water early but that last batch of Sandies upped our trip.
