got given some baits at the GTG thing
thunk it was only fair to give them a toss in the ole drink
as sum a yawl know I aint overly partial to what I use to ketch a fish
it might be one brand or another ....sometimes it is what it is ...
I do know my original bait of choice and rod was not getn the job dun today
so I went to the truck and broke out sum different equipment
and these here Mr. Crappie baits got to go for a swim ....

oh yeah ....I kinda remember
it was the mr crappie and ketchn episode .....
got these here baits at the GTG ,,,,,
right nice lookin off the shelf stuff ....
blue ice if memory serves me rite ....
lightining shad I think in the 2 inch size ....
put it on a lite pink shouldered jig head 1/32 oz ....
under a float 6 foot deep ...
no nibbles ...went bare to get a good test result
I did in fact try another bait before this ..
crappie magnet something ...equals nada ...
and one other as well ...
anyway after I slowed way way down on the presentation from the following week ...
it began to be a ketchn friendly spot in the shade

I managed a few fish pretty fast after I changed up on rods line baits and presentations
the first fish hit it like a freight train I tell ya .....
after 20 minutes of not a peck I wasn't all that ready ....
the float was so gone so fast it gave me the ole ...
face .....

the next fish was equally amusing ....just sort of slowly laid the float on its side
kinda ketched me off guard as well ...
and yes ...I said ,,,"kinda ketched me" ...btw
I reversed the ole karma on it though ....
I kinda ketched it instead ....

I aint been there yet ...
so its ok to pm me that secret preferred color if you want ...

next fish laid up the float almost the same ....missed it like greased lighting ..I TELL YA
gave it another toss ...
casting a fixed float sure is tuff at this depth .....
lots of slack to take up if need be ....
another fish lays the float down again ...!
and it usually don't go so well for the next fish after the miss like that don't you know

anyway the wind picked up a bit and ended the cast and the slow float gig
so down the road I went ....
but the bait worked very well
I will use it again sometime I am sure

I have used it before 2 years ago on Arlington as well this time of year
it was the ticket over that way that day as well ...
