That had me on the edge of my seat! One of the best reads I have had in a long time. Great job.

My words are not enough to describe this outstanding story. Again I was completely taken away to the Pecos while reading this. I think it should be published in an outdoor magazine at the very least. Great job btw on the preparedness, keeping cool, and of course relating the tale.

Wow I don't have the words for how incredible that story is one of the best I have read in a very long time . Very glad you all made it out the outcome could have been much worse.

Wow .. Never thought about all the rain would come over the walls and block your exit like that. I have never been in that situation, but have been on rivers and scouted exit paths, but never thought could the rain block it.

-thanks for sharing your adventure.

Man what a trip. I don't have a sat phone but do have a old handheld gps that you can guarantee I'll be bringing alot more often now, knowing your coordinates is a life saver.

Wow. Had it not been for you guys having a satellite phone and the knowledge or preparedness for the what if's the outcome of your situation could have been a lot worse. The other thing to take into consideration is the fact that because of your phone call that put the rescue into motion for the other paddlers who were on the river. You guys saved more than your lives that day.

Wow, what an amazing story. I really enjoyed the read. Sounds like an episode straight out of National Geographic. Sorry to hear all gear was lost, but you guys are alive and you saved that teen stranded on the cliff. You'll be telling this story for years to come.

I have a lot of video from our trip that I haven't had a chance to go through entirely yet. Very little video from the escape though, because getting footage wasn't at the top of my priorities.

$12 a day from www.mobal.com and that includes shipping. You only pay more if you need it. So 12x7=$84 divided by 4 guys = $21 each for peace of mind.

That's not bad at all. I didn't know you could rent them, that makes it all the easier.

Thanks everyone, for the kind comments.

As for the sat phone, I will never paddle a remote river without one; and as cheap as they are to rent them, why would you not? I believe the sat phone saved our butts.

Gear is cheap in comparison To loss of life.
Hope u find at least a few of your things on your search.
Thanks for taking the time to put all this together cheers

Your story needs to get out to help others understand what could happen and what to do.
If I can help others it will have all been worth it.
I really do think u should add the helo ride video.
It is a well done short video IMO n the final shot brings the flood into perspective!!! thumb
Dont know If everyone gets It but It was the floating cane shot that brought it home for me.
