Met up with Old Coach at Oak Cove and headed to the flats at 6:30. The ride over was a little cool we were thinking a coat might have been a good idea.Ramp was a little busy but no problem getting in or out. Looked around for a while and caught a few including a big ole cat on a slab. Went over to Windsock and slabbed some up. Pretty much stayed in that area slabbin humps and watching the deep water all around becuase they would explode at any time all in 40-50ft. At times the graph and the top of the water was just covered with agressive feeding whites with some hybrid (mostly unders) mixed in. Our first encounter I did't do so well. Even though there were hundreds knocking the shad out of the water they were picky about what they would hit. Small Pop-r, tiny torpedo, small chug they would just kinda slap at or hit every once in a while. Small silver slabs worked good but the best for me (fish every cast) was #14 Pet Spoon. Had it on a light rig with only 6lb test line and hooked something that just swam off without stopping breaking my line and taking the only pet spoon I had with me. Rob caught every fish species in the lake except for a crappie. Look at the Cat and LMB he caught on a slab. The weather was as perfect as it could possible be for mid July. Rob is going in for some more surgery on his knee and will be out for several weeks. Sure glad RC gave him a proper send off with a great day of fishing.

Great report. Thanks for sharing.
Seemed like a nice day to be out.
I am laid up with a sore back.
