Did pretty decent. Poppers, jigs, & chunking all produced. Could have had more but slept several hours. Day before we hooked a nice blue but he jumped once and threw the hook.

Nice catch. What charter did you guys go with? Or do you have your own boat?

I run the charters. I hope this is not against the rules but if anyone is interested check out wwww.TexasCoastSportfishing.com. I guarantee tuna (or whatever else you want to fish for) and it works out as cheap or cheaper than a party boat except you have your own private charter. Check out our pictures. Also, we have a standby list for customers who can go on short notice when we get a great weather window. This is not a party boat...no expense spared getting to and catching fish! Capt. Clay

Overnight tuna fishing again... It was a little slow with the full moon but we still caught a few. Ended up with 3 nice yellowfins (lost 2 big ones) and several fat blackfins. We released a ton of smaller blackfins. We also caught a stud dorado while chunking for tuna. All tuna were caught chunking. No surface or topwater activity this time because of the bright moon. We did raise an estimated 500 pound blue marlin that investigated our trolling spread but wouldn't eat...she was just window shopping. The highlight of the trip was a 25 foot whale shark that come into our tuna lights and hung around the boat for several minutes. The pictures arent the best but it was very cool! We made great time the entire trip running 32 knots all the way out (120 nautical miles) to the rig. Seas were very smooth. POCO Bueno weather looks too rough for us to fish so we will be ready for some more trips!

Clayt runs the best charter in Texas, in my opinion. Great rods and reels and a super clean, nice boat. His prices are outstanding and from my experience always puts me on the fish I want to catch. If you plan on doing a private deep sea charter contact him.

These are pictures from a few weeks back. We took some boys from Virginia on a 40 hour trip to a new drillship. It was a long ride out there but the bite was pretty good. We caught blackfin tuna on every cast with poppers and jigs. We only kept about 8 of the bigger ones. The yellowfin tuna bite was a little slow but it picked up around midnight then it was a frenzy for a few hours. Every drift was a double hookup while chunking. We only got 6 to the gaff and lost a few big tuna probably over 100 pounds (they're always big ones when you loose them!). We also had a swarm of nice dorados show up on the lights and we caught a few of them. Trolling weedlines also produced a nice wahoo and dorado. We caught and released some amberjacks on the way back inshore but did not want to waste our ice on them. To top it off, we let these guys go across the Colorado River to a friend's property and shoot a few hogs. They had to UPS coolers of Tuna and hog meat back to Virginia.
