I went out and caught 20 bass and 3 bluegill(one trophy 10") in 2 hours on my spinning reel and Spro baby popper frog. A big key is how you can walk the Spro frog on top of the water.

Is it possible to tie a fly that can be walked in the same way? Is there a pattern?

Our very experience member ties a very simple and effective frog fly. Below is his video to show how. You may try to tie one.

Thanks for the link! I tied up a couple last night. Hopefully give them a workout tomorrow!

I got to watch the Master at work with his flies. They definitely catch fish. I've caught bass on them as well. And since I have only tied about 10 flies my rendition was not very good, LOL!!

Next weekend I get to go to the BVFF Tie and Fly event and learn how to tie them properly!!!!

Let us know how you do with them.

This one was posted on May 18th. The full sized "froggy fly".

Here is the 2nd one I tied. First one I didn't wait on glue to dry to start my Sharpie and it smeared. Fish won't care, but it wasn't picture worthy for the TFF. smile

Awesome!!! A lot better than mine. I really like the way you shaped the body. Now let us know how it catches fish.

I used a size 2 hook the first time and missed hook sets. So I tied the next one on a size 3/0 L shaped worm hook. That fixed the hook set issue but it's a big fly to handle, gave me a real workout. But for targeting bigger bass it was perfect for me.

I like that foam frog and have tied a couple after watching those videos.

I also tie a frog, that does a dive and wiggle:

The underside is just dubbing, chenille, or estaz. If you tie it with rubber legs instead of rabbit, not only will you actually be able to cast it, but the action is better as well. Also, you have to let it come to the top before re-casting or it will tear apart pretty quickly.

Thanks Bryan, I've been fishing a lot of weed beds with the frogs that stay on top. Do you normally fish this on sandy banks or around timber? What type of presentation has been most successful for you? Do you fish it in deeper water?

I will beat the banks with something like that really early in the morning. Same type of presentation as a popper or gurgler for me.

Now, if you are looking for a weedless frog, you've got to try Dusty's udf.

Well I glad I'm going to the BVFF tie and fly event this weekend. My froggy flies land upside down. My mini-froggy flies spin on the hook. And I tied a Charlie's hopper last night that I was extremely proud of. I took it fishing and it laid on its' side. How bad is that, LOL!!!
