In case anyone is interested, The Dick's Sporting Goods in Flower Mound has a 12-foot Field & Stream Eagle Talon on sale for $350. Looks like it comes with rod holders, seat and anchor trolley all installed.

I asked about them last week and was told they are made by Confluence, the makers of Wilderness Systems, Perception, Mad River and Dagger.

Yeah that was useful! One guy liked it, said it was made in the USA and gave it four stars, the other guy says it was made in China and gave it two. LOL!

They certainly look nice. I was scoping them out a few months ago. Sure would like to try one and decide for myself!

I ran into Dick's on Saturday while I was waiting to meet up with a co-worker. I liked the looks of them and think it'll make a fine kayak. Here's a pretty thorough review of it. Click

What's not to like?
According to those pictures it has a tunnel type hull which is great for stability, and reccessed scuppers which protects them, as that is the usual weak area when using the yak in rocky shallow rapids, and a pretty pronounced keel that will make it track straight as well as add to riggidity.
I also give it an A+ for the bait bucket and tackle box hole just behind the seat and you still have the well for your milk crate.
Fairly good size forward hatch for storage, recessed rod holders, and center console rod holder, plus an anchor trolly and you have one of the best bangs for your buck I've seen in a long, long time.
This is a pretty good deal guys in my opinion for that price you can't go wrong!

In case anyone is interested, The Dick's Sporting Goods in Flower Mound has a 12-foot Field & Stream Eagle Talon on sale for $350. Looks like it comes with rod holders, seat and anchor trolley all installed. Blast! I wish I had a Dicks around here. I would definitely buy one. On-line @ Dicks they are $499.

I would contact them and see if they will honor that price. Dicks is not doing all that well in most areas and probably could use the sale.

According to those pictures it has a tunnel type hull..... Those pictures are a little deceiving. The hull looks more like a WS Tarpon series hull, but with less rocker in the front and a more pronounced keel. I would think this kayak tracks very well, but would be a little sluggish to turn. It probably would splash some in windy conditions compared to the Tarpon as well. It does have great features and with the hull design and flat floor, it looks like it would be a great kayak to stand up in and fish the flats. My only real complaint with the kayak is that it weighs a lot for a 12 foot kayak. This kayak was next to the Perception Sport Caster and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase the F&S Eagle Talon over the Caster. The Caster is terrible kayak.
