What are your thoughts on the smaller 18 - 19 bass boats running 150 to 200 hp? Not everyone can afford or garage the bigger boats. So what about the z7 vs ZX190/200 vs Legend 199 vs Basscat Sabre vs Ranger vs Triton etc, etc for the smaller boats? Ride, fishability, fit and finish?

I really have enjoyed my Triton TR186 with a 150hp. Good ride and plenty of room to fish 2. If i fished 3 i would want a larger front deck.

Ranger 519 with a 225 runs out great and has one of the smoothest rides out there.

I know my 16 foot Skeeter doesn't do too well in rough water... haha.
The Pantera Classic (19ft) does pretty well. I don't know first hand, but I would assume the other Pantera series boats (PII PIII etc - all 19ft.) would do a little better because they are heavier. I can't make comparisons but I can say the Pantera has gotten me and my dad out of some scary mess (4-5 footers) without screwing our backs up.

I like my Champion 181 in rough water. Only knocks I have against it are trying to fish in big rollers can be tough, the bow sits high and my TM comes out of the water, especially with a person on the back deck.

It was 21 years ago when I ordered my 18 footer. And, I made sure it was one that had sufficient floatation to keep it from sinking (Ranger). ONE time I got 'caught in a storm',...speared a wave, and the boat filled with water. But, it did not kill the engine. It was so heavy that it wouldn't go but about 5 mph,...enough to get us to the bank. I'd buy a 21 if I could afford it. So, I just have to watch the weather(wind) forecast( like a hawk), and be more careful.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

I have a P-2 and it's an excellent all around hull. With a 200 it's quick and also very stable. Being use to the 19 foot, I don't like the smaller Sabre. But it's just what I'm use too.

Love my TR-186 with the 150 Merc. Had it on Falcon last spring in some monster breakers. Didn't get any wetter than the boys in the 21' Ranger that came in the same time I did. Although they probabably felt a lot safer. Have to admit, it scared the #### out of me but I was proud of the Triton.

I've got a '05 TR-186. It's pretty smooth in rough water, but not very dry.

My Stratos 285 w/150 has been in some ruff stuff and done pretty well, but like mentioned most of the time here it is 80% driver, 20% boat.

X2. 181/150 Optimax. I really like mine too.
