Hook you bet let me see doing the math.

Per Jug

Noodle Section 25 cents
Dumbell 44 cents
Hooks 20 cents
Split rings 15 cents
mainline 10 cents (proabally less)
snaps 24 cents
Tape 10 cents

Total $1.48

And again mine don't "flag" but it don't seem to matter, when I check they I have fish on some and not on others,

Oh and Bhunt indeed I and many others use those colored swimming ones. As you can see a little white duct tape and all is legal.

Sorry its been more then twenty min ago, so I.ve forgotten it.
btw, I dont use tape or dumbells, so, deduct about .45 cents, when I did my math a few mons ago, I came to $1.47 per.

I guess if you like flags you like flags we just set them, then we troll for sandbass with hell-pet, cruise the lake, swim, pull the kids on the tube, etc. About every 60-90 minutes we run our line about 95% have fish or missing bait. I guess if you stay right with your jugs flagging makes a TON of sense but if you leave them for an hour to an hour and a half it don't matter much.

Of course this is why we make damn sure to fish all baits above the therm this time of year. I have heard if you hook fish below the them and they stay there to long they die. I don't want to kill any fish with out having a chance to decide if it goes home or free first. I don't know if this is true or not (that they die) but it makes sense and I take the resposibility of taking life (even a catfishes') quite seriously.

My understanding is there is little oxygen below the therm the cats will go there to eat but won't stay long. If you hook em with a jug and they spend more then 20-30 minutes there they die.

So I fish in 15-20 feet with the baits in 10-18 feet and never once have I found a dead fish or a lost hook since I gave up mono and went to split rings and snaps that is.

I do like those jugs though Hooker! Perhaps one day when I develop more patience and have more free time I will put more effort into mine. For now I will stick to what I guess Wile-E-Coyote would call the Acme Brand Version but unlike Mr. Coyote mine actually do get the job done.

Oh and Hook I would love to get down south and fish with you some day, something tells me I could learn a lot from you.

Jack you are right on the thermocline. If the fish goes below it they do not stay below it for to long. Or they will die from lack of oxygen. If you are not going to stay with your jugs in the summer time you will pull up dead fish. I am like you I hate to kill it if I am not going to eat it.

Alos Hooker is north of you not south. thumb

This might only be true in a lake. The river I fish has plenty of oxygen in the water due to the moving water. NO dead cats here!

ive always just saved all my liquid detergent jugs and tied about 3-10 foot line to the handle and tie on a stout circle hook or whatever i happen to have smile ,rarely use a weight and normaly dont use more than one hook ( dont want 2 big cats on at same time ) then write my name on it with a sharpie throw on a good sized perch and throw it out of the boat. Reapeat this prcess about 20 times then have a few beers with buddies then go check em. not the fanciest set up but it works. Storage is easy, just take the lid off insert hook and line and put the lid back on and throw em all in a garbage can i keep out back. Ive caught some pretty good size cats doing this , biggest around 35-40lb range but mostly catch good eatin size. The noodle setups look awesome tho, i think ill have to convert from my old school method smile

the way i understand it is that all jugs and noodles have to be marked no matter how many hooks you have. just be sure you dont have more than 5 hooks.
