Yeah, I started looking for something to swap my car with. I don't like being limited to only a jon boat. I would like to try a tournament some day, so I need more options.

wait till ya gotta put gas in that 9 or 10 mph truck then gas in that big boat thats why I downgraded to Saturn and 14ft v bottom couldnt afford to fish but maybe twice a week now 5 times for same money. sure its a trade off from a 20 ft deckboat to a 14ft alum. but more time to fish.kept deck when someone wants to go with me they pull it or pay for gas, works for me.hey if you, ever get around waco give me a call we can hook mine up to your car and you can see what you think Steve 254 709 2788

I have a 4 cyl sonata and I pull a 15' aluminum semi-vee starcraft w/ a 20hp and what I need to fish with and its fine. You don't need a truck to pull 800lbs.

With a 4x4 you would be able to pull most anything up a ramp. You won't need 4x4 with a bass tracker unless you are down in the hill country or Del Rio. You could have used the Sonata for short hauls and flat ramps and been OK under 1000 lbs. It would have hard to stay under 1000 and have much of a boat. As other stated though front wheel drives just do not have much of a tranny. I believe that the trailer brake weight limit in Tx is the trailer cannot exceed 50% of GVW. In Ca. it is tougher at 33% and they require saftey clips on safety chains.

I am wondering how much my boat weighs too. I have been working on making it faster and I keep getting asked how much it weighs. Is there a way to know how much a boat really weighs?

you can go over to BBC and pick the model in the boats section. There are threads with the original flyers that the manufatuurers produced. Just look up your model and it will give you all the specs on your boat. i used it the other day to research mine.

If your car has a 1000 lb towing capacity, i would be looking for some thing else to tow your boat with. I have a 16' Tracker PT 170. I pull it with a F150. The boat alone weighs around 1600 lbs and that is boat and trailer empty. I have a 17 gallon gas tank and gasoline weights about 6 lbs per gallon. Thats about 100 lbs in gas. I would estimate that all my supplies and gear weights about 100 lbs. My boat on a trailer with gear and a full tank of gas weights about 1800 lbs. Thats over your tow rating. I wouldnt pull anything more than a 14' jon boat with a car. Cars are not meant to tow things. You could be looking at transmissin damage down the road. My dads 4 cylinder ford ranger would strugle pulling my boat and trailor, couldnt see a car pulling it at all safely.

I looked around on there but I was unable to find the information I was looking for. I suspect it it due to the fact I own a 25 year old boat that hasn't been made in a long time. 1985 DynaTrak 162
